Thanks primarily to the hard work of the NMA and the Washington Off Highway Vehicle Association (WOHVA) there are many places in the State of Washington to ride an off-road motorcycle. Our friends over at WOHVA have put together an outstanding map tool to help off-road riders find legal and approved riding areas within Washington State.
(Includes Taneum, Teanaway and Naches trails)
NOTICE to Taneum and Naches Riders!
The Nature Conservancy has purchased 47,921 acres of land in Eastern Washington. This purchase impacts track trails in the Taneum and Naches motorized recreation areas. These are a hugely popular motorized recreation areas. They have tremendous ORV volunteer community support that has been assisting the Cle Elum and Naches ranger districts for many years. The Nature Conservancy Map does not list these trails as multiple-use, but rather as hiking trails. Here are just a few of the multiple-use trails impacted:
The Nature Conservancy is soliciting public comment regarding the future use of the land they have purchased. NMA strongly urges the offroad recreation community to submit pro-motorized recreation comments to the Nature Conservancy's survey. Do it today and help preserve your current offroad recreation access on these trails traversing these privately owned portions of land.
The Pacific Ranger District South is in the planning phases of the The Calawah OHV Project. Comments supporting the project can be sent by email by accessing the link provided above.
The DNR purchased over 50,000 square acres in the Teanaway area from a private timber company in 2013. This is now state trust land. The area has been named Teanaway Community Forest (TCF).
Did you know that the DNR is obligated by Washington State law to provide multiple use of state land where it is in the best interest of the state and general welfare of the citizens thereof (RCW79.10.100)? Did you also know they have banned ORV trail riding at the TCF at this time?
