Introduction IntroductionThe Northwest Motorcycle Association (NMA) in Washington state was founded in 1973 and is dedicated to the preservation of off-road motorcycling. The NMA organization strives to inform, educate and organize off-highway motorcyclists within Washington State to preserve and expand off-highway motorcycling opportunities. Interested having fun, the NMA sponsors competitive and non-competitive events for NMA members. At the same time, the organization is aware of the hard work needed to keep motorized and non-motorized off-road recreation alive in the future. There are efforts from other organizations to limit the available lands and opportunities for off-road recreation, especially for off-road motorcycling. With concerned individuals and clubs, the NMA continues to champion land use issues for off-road motorcyclists. However, that effort is not without challenges. We can always use more help and need new members to join the effort. The NMA has members and local motorcycle clubs all around the Northwest, including Bellingham, Centralia, Longview, Olympia,Yakima and the greater Seattle metropolitan area. With a common interest in the fun and responsibility of off-road motorcycling, members can work together, take care of our riding areas and promoting motorcycle safety. Consider becoming an NMA member. For information about joining the NMA, see our membership information. Statement of PurposeFounded in 1973, the purpose of the Northwest Motorcycle Association is as follows:
At Risk?A dirt bike is not much good without places to ride. It seems to defy logic, but the fact is we have several enemies who have stated mission to eliminate all ORV use on public land. Although the NMA has been instrumental in establishing and formalizing ORV opportunities and funding in Washington State, we have still lost over half of our trail mileage in the last 20 years. Areas like Cle Elum, Harts Lake, Sultan Basin, and some high mountain trails in the Wenatchee National Forest, can no longer be enjoyed as hundreds and thousands did before. And now, prime trails (which are seldom used by any non-ORV users) in the Gifford National Forest are under attack. By joining the NMA, you can help ensure the rights of off-road motorcyclist to participate in a valuable and rewarding sport. Without your support, it's possible off-road motorcycling will be severely restricted or eliminated in the future.
