NMA News Guidelines
- News articles for the NMA web site and member-only email list must be submitted to and approved by the Executive Committee (President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer), or by any member of the Executive Committee if time constraint or availability issues warrant, before they can be made available on those resources. The review process should allow the NMA to publish accurate news in a timely manner. Submissions that are complete and accurate should be reviewed and made available to publish within 48 hours.
- Articles submitted that reference a recreation area by name or description, i.e. Capital Forest, Cle Elum Ranger District, Shelton, etc. are requested to have been reviewed by local clubs and/or management agencies for accuracy.
- It is the policy of the NMA to publish accurate, factual news items. Articles found to contain inaccurate information will not be posted, be removed, or be corrected at the discretion of the NMA Executive Committee.
- The NMA strives to not let the tone of news articles overshadow their content. To that end, the NMA, at the discretion of the Executive Committee, reserves the right to edit and correct any known errors before publishing a news article, and to edit language that may be deemed inflammatory or inappropriate.
- When submitting news articles for review, they must be complete and ready to publish. This will save time and effort for everyone. Each article should contain the following information:
* Headline
* Full Article Text
* Call to Action (what people should do, if applicable)
* Contact Information (for more details, if applicable)
* Submitter's Name, Phone, Email (only the name will be published with the news item)
Incomplete submissions, such as forwarded email discussions, will be returned without review.
- File attachments for news items:
* We do not accept attachments through our news submission form. * If an important file is referenced in a news item, we always prefer to link to that item on the original web site. That ensures we refer to first-hand information whenever possible. In those cases, simply include the URL in your news submission.
* If a file is not available anywhere else on the web, there are two options:
a) Simply include the information in the news item text. b) In special cases, we can link to a file you provide us. Describe your needs in your submission. We do request that the file be less than 150 K in file size, to make sure it doesn't take a long time to download for people with dial-up connections.
- The use of our online news submission form is solely for the purpose of submitting relevant news items consistent with the mission of the NMA. All other uses are prohibited.
