Earn an Annual NW Forest Pass You may already be eligible for an Administrative/Volunteer Northwest Forest Pass good for the next twelve (12) months! Do the work Have you done two full days of volunteer work on the trails this year clearing deadfalls, draining water holes, repairing washouts, clearing brush, filling in ruts, repairing water dips or bars, etc.? Report your work The basic requirement for an annual pass is documentation of two full days of trail work. This documentation requirement can be fulfilled with a phone call or an email to the Recreational Forester or Volunteer Coordinator at the applicable Ranger District Office. Your NMA calendar book lists all of the WA State offices and their web site addresses. Volunteers should contact the District they want to work on ahead of time to inform them of where they will clearing or improving the trail so they can coordinate and assist if necessary. However, the important thing is to get out there, do it and report it! Your volunteer hours will also provide credit towards the hours required by the IAC for a matching contribution to the dollars issued from our NOVA fund. A real Win-Win situation! Example I know from my own experience that I sometimes do not call in advance because I am not certain if trail work will be needed or not. I just take my chainsaw (sometimes a "Tigertooth" awesome handsaw!) and a Polaski or folding shovel with me in the early part of the season and clear or repair the trail as necessary to get through. I then report it later via email. The annual pass gets mailed to my home address. Resources Here are two email addresses for District personnel who will be happy to help coordinate our efforts, take your reports and issue passes. Cle Elum/Taneum/Teanaway/Naches area Mad River/Entiat/Lake Chelan Again, your NMA calendar book lists all of the WA State offices and their web site addresses. You can also see our web links page.
